LE GRAND CHANCELIER

Between 1985 and 1989, much-loved journalist and TV presenter, Jacques Chancel, became the host of the French TV program « A Chacun Son Tour ». During the show, Chancel intended to get the cyclists to open up and reveal personality layers that were hidden from the screen persona. He strongly believed that the show would benefit from inviting all sorts of personalities, including Lino Ventura, Alain Delon, Bernard Pivot, Raymond Devos, Mireille Matthieu and many others. « A Chacun Son Tour » remains an unparalleled television experience and it profoundly changed the way people perceived the cyclists and the Tour de France. It bears witness to Chancel’s unaltered humanism and his strong interest in human interactions. In his opinion, an interview with a cyclist was as engaging as a conversation with a thinker or a musician.
