SYNOPSIS

A race to southern lands which relates the story of Nicolas Baudin and Matthew Flinders, responsible for 2 expeditions, one French, one English. Their mission in the early part of the 19th century, was to discover and explore the Southern Lands. As well as the political & economical stakes involved, the film de scribes the numerous incidents experienced on their ships, reveals extracts of their log books, their first contacts with natives on the Australian continent and the studies they were able to make.
