Across the planet, indigenous peoples who had been living self-sufficiently and in harmony with nature and their environment for thousands of years, found themselves brutally confronted with the intrusion of the outside world. Most of the time, the contact with the western world, its culture, its tools, its technology, turned out to have a devastating impact on those populations. Today across the globe new local initiatives are emerging, where indigenous people conscious of their resources are ready to connect and merge tradition with modernity to control their destiny.
