SYNOPSIS
80 years after his tragic death in 1936, the film retraces the life of explorer and pioneer of polar sciences, Jean-Baptiste Charcot. While Shackleton and Amundsen competed for the conquest of the polar seas, Charcot’s polar expeditions were dedicated to oceanographic researches to be shared with the World. With his laboratory ship,» Le Pourquoi pas?» («why not?» in French), he was the first to identify the crucial role played by the poles in current and climate mechanisms, debunking the Big Freeze scenario adopted by most scientists at the time.
