SYNOPSIS

In 1997, during an under-water seismic prospection in the China Sea, off the coast of Brunei, the geologists of Elf Petroleum Asia spotted, sixty-three metres down, a wreck and its cargo. The first reconnaissance carried out by archeologist Michel L'Hour revealed a real treasure : thousands of Chinese ceramics and jars in Vietnamese and Thai stoneware from the 15th century, in an excellent state of preservation. Over several weeks, seventeen divers, twenty archeologists and four art historians conducted excavations on what turns out to be the most important pre-European site discovered in the China Sea.
