SYNOPSIS

The construction of a dam on the Euphrates River is about to cause the destruction of this ancient jewel of Mesopotamian history.

The construction of a dam on the Euphrates River in Turkey caused the destruction of one of the Roman Empire's most important towns. In July 2000, the old city of Zeugma was submerged under 40 meters of water. A team of experts composed of archaeologists, epigraphists and ceramic specialists brought together had little time left to save the remains of several centuries of Mesopotamian history.
