SYNOPSIS
The Aurora was the first large vessel to be used for transportation on the Lake Titicaca. Built in Glasgow in 1855, this steamship was brought from London to the port of Islay in Peru into pieces. The 210 tons of steel were then transported on mules and lamas, over the Andes to be reassembled upon reaching the shores of the Titicaca. This two-masted steamship sailed the Titicaca waters until 1876, when the ship touched a reef and sank into the deep waters of the lake. Today, 150 years later, the first ever large-scale diving expedition is launched in the sacred waters of the lake to find the shipwreck. With the help of the humanoid robot Ocean One, a team of international scientists will explore the remains and bring back to life the story of the Aurora, the Titanic of the Titicaca.
