MANU SAMOA : RUGBY’S MODERN DAY WARRIORS

This film offers an original and exclusive behind the scenes look at the national team of a very small country, but a great rugby nation: Samoa (rankes 10^th worldwide). The film also tells a strong personal story, the story of a former professional player, Ata, who is trying to be selected in the national team, after a-7-year interruption.

The Manu Samoa (name of the National Team) became famous by defeating Wales during the 1991 Rugby World Cup. Their very spectacular game make them feared by the greatest rugby players from all over the world. The Manu Samoa are often compared to modern day warriors.

More than a simple documentary telling about a rugby team, it shows how a sport can affect a society, how it can be part of major changes in the culture of a country where tradition has been maintained for centuries.

This documentary finds its force through the incredible story of one man, Ata Sofara, once a professional player, who has dropped competition in 1999 after an injury.
